Forest Avenue Families:
Recently I had the opportunity to present the 2025-2026 Forest Avenue School Improvement Plan to the School Committee. A School Improvement Plan (SIP) is a formal, strategic document that outlines how an individual school will improve student learning outcomes and overall school
performance. Having a School Improvement Plan is a requirement in Massachusetts under state law (M.G.L. Chapter 69, Section 1I) and by regulations of the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). Here in Hudson school improvement plans consist of four goals which closely align with the District Improvement plan (DIP). This year the four goals
that we are focusing on here at Forest Avenue school are:
Goal #1 - By the end of the 2025-2026 school year, school leaders will ensure effective and consistent implementation of the newly adopted Benchmark Advanced curriculum to enhance instructional quality and student learning outcomes across grades K - 4.
Goal #2 - By the end of the 2025-2026 school year, at least 80% of students in grades 1-3 identified
as "at risk" in oral reading fluency (ORF) on the beginning ofthe year DIBLES assessment will achieve "ambitious growth" as indicated by their end of year DIBELS ORF scores.
Goal #3 - By the end of the 2025-2026 school year, school leaders and IST facilitators will revise the IST process into separate academic and social-emotional support pathways.
Goal #4 - During the 2025-2026 school year, we will fully implement the Leaves of Citizenship/Choose Love hybrid curriculum in support of the Forest Avenue School school-wide behavioralexpectations Respectful, Responsible, & Safe.
For a more in depth look at our School Improvement plan you may access the document by clicking on this link HERE. The Forest Avenue School Improvement council also meets on the first Monday of the month from 6-7 PM in the school library. All are welcome to attend. On Wednesday, when students return to school, we will be begin hosting Parent Teacher Conferences, which will be held on Wednesday and Thursday. On both days, students will be dismissing from school at 11:45 AM. I hope that all of you are able to take advantage of this opportunity to meet with your son/daughter's classroom teacher as well as the other staff members who work with your student. Please be reminded that there will be no school on November 26th, 27th, & 28th in honor of the Thanksgiving holiday. For a list of other important events and activities happening this month, be sure to check out the Calendar in this edition of the Falcon Focus. I hope that you and your family enjoy a very happy Thanksgiving holiday!
Sincerely,
